Hiking on over to the Microsoft Expression Web Designer pages, I eagerly clicked on the " Free Trial" link and was greeted with this well-written, soothing notice in big, bold letters: The free trial will expire in February of 2007. In what appears to be about a month ahead of schedule, Microsoft has released a Community Technology Preview (CTP) of its standards-based Microsoft Expression Web Designer (code-named Quartz). ![]() Now, it appears that the web design tool, now officially known as Microsoft Expression Web Designer, is far enough along in development to release a preview version to the teeming masses: We first caught wind of the full scope of Microsoft's forthcoming Expression tools last September, including an image editor (code named Acrylic), a "Flash killer" (code named Sparkle) and a web design tool (code named Quartz). ![]()
